Most YouTube channels never reach 1,000 subscribers – not because the creator isn't good, but because they quit around video 15. Here's a plan that keeps you going long enough to get there.

Make search-first videos

A new channel has no audience to push videos to, so YouTube search is your friend. Make videos that answer questions people actually type: "how to fill ITR for freelancers", "best phone under 15000 for gaming", "chole bhature recipe without soda".

Type your topic into YouTube search and look at the autocomplete suggestions – those are real searches.

Use Shorts to get discovered

Shorts bring in new viewers cheaply. Cut the best 30–45 seconds of each long video into a Short with a "full video on my channel" line.

Thumbnails and titles

Your thumbnail should be readable on a phone at the size of a thumbnail. Three or four words, max. Faces with clear emotion perform well in India.

Consistency over volume

One good video a week for six months beats ten videos in the first month and then silence.

Ask for the subscribe – once

A short, specific ask works: "If you're preparing for SSC this year, subscribe – I post one practice set every Sunday."

The starter push

New channels with 12 subscribers look untested, and viewers hesitate to subscribe. Some creators buy a few hundred subscribers to get the channel looking established, then let content do the rest. If you do, pick a slow, guaranteed plan and keep it reasonable relative to your views.
