Instagram Collab Posts: The Free Way to Double Your Reach

By the SMMZO team · Updated 28 April 2026 · 2 min read

A Collab post appears on two (or more) profiles at once, with shared likes, comments and views. It's one of the most underused growth tools on Instagram.

How to do it

While posting, tap Tag people → Invite collaborator, choose the account, and share. Once they accept, the post shows on both profiles.

Who to collab with

  • Accounts roughly your size.
  • Complementary niches: a café and a food blogger; a boutique and a makeup artist; a gym and a nutritionist.
  • Local accounts if you're a local business.

What to post

Something that genuinely belongs to both audiences – a joint giveaway, a recipe using the café's product, a before/after with the salon and the photographer.

Bonus

Because likes and views are combined, collab posts often look stronger than either account's usual posts – which helps them get pushed further.
